Who is Mario Martinez?
Mario Martinez and his family have lived on Hilton Head Island for more than 15 years. When he first came to South Carolina in 2003, he worked at a grocery store, then went on to become a beer distributor. Later he worked for two banks. In 2012 he launched his own business, Innova. Mario has a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Consumer Behavior from the Technological Institute of Monterrey in Mexico. He is proud to be a business owner, activist and immigrant, and has been advocating for the rights of minorities since 2005.
His wife Blanca Martinez, is a CPA, former gymnast, Montessori teacher, mom and homemaker. Their son Mario is in fifth grade and enjoys taekwondo and golf, and their daughter Constanza is in seventh grade and plays the piano, volleyball, and soccer.
Mario Martinez first came to South Carolina in 2003, where he began by working at a grocery store, switched to being a beer distributor and then worked for two banks, until 2012 when he decided to start his own business. Mario earned his degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Consumer Behavior from the Technological Institute of Monterrey in Mexico. He is proud to be a business owner, activist and immigrant, and has been fighting for the rights of minorities since 2005.
Mario is a small business man with plenty of experience in international relations and finance. He was a member and Co-Chair of the Business and Economics Commission of the Advisory Board for the Institute for Mexicans Abroad from 2009-2011. Mario also worked with past President of Mexico, Felipe Calderon, and several governors and senators regarding the opportunities for South Carolina and Mexico to work together in the aeronautical industry. He was even invited by the FDIC to speak during their annual symposium about Multicultural Markets and banking opportunities in those markets.
Mario Martinez has been a community leader in the Lowcountry for more than 13 years, while juggling the responsibilities that come with being a business owner and a family man. Mario is more than prepared to be the change that the South Carolina House of Representatives needs. On November 6th, we hope you vote for Mario Martinez for South Carolina House of Representatives District 123, representing Hilton Head and Daufuskie Island.
“I got into politics after years of grassroots activities in hopes our government would change. I realized that in a state like South Carolina minorities have little to no voice. I decided to run despite knowing the difficulties I would face, because we need to create awareness that things can change and minorities can win.”
